Chapter: | On knowing the secrets of Fasting. |
Page 635 - from Volume One (Display Image)She came to the Prophet, may God s prayers and peace be upon him, and he said: You fasted your day, like this. They said, No. He said, So complete the rest of your day and make up for it, meaning the day of Ashura. Even if this hadith is not authentic [ On the day of Ashura is a secret that God raises His grace over His servants ]So take into account the sanctity of the day because God has a secret in it that raises his grace over his servants, and here the virtue of abstaining from food and drink, even if he is not fasting, appears. I am hungry and do not fast, for my soul is quarreling with me over the reward of fasting If her female servants were exhausted, we would say *** obligating fasting and standing up The servant is Abdullah as long as he does not have a target in himself for an archer [ We have been commanded to oppose the People of the Book in that which God did not permit. ]And when he commanded to make it up, he emphasized that he likened it to Ramadan, not to a specific vow if its day was missed, for it does not make it up, even if its owner withholds the rest of his day if he did not spend the night, and he would not have commanded us to fast it and incited it. We have what they legislated for themselves from what their Prophet has legislated for them, so we are commanded to oppose them except for what the Prophet, may God s prayers and peace be upon him, decreed for us from what was a law for them. [ We are closer to Moses than you .]God Almighty says about the prophets: Those are those whom God guided, so follow his guidance, and he has made law for you in the religion that he enjoined on Noah. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: We are closer to Moses than you So we were on behalf of himself and his nation, so we were closer to Moses than the Jews because they did not believe in everything that Moses brought May God s prayers and peace be upon him that the believer believes in them with some and atone for some, as this is divine care, as he told our infallibility from that, for it is good for us. [ God has protected us from opposing the prophets and has dropped some of their laws from us ]And what Moses brought was fasting on the day of Ashura, so we believed in it, and we fasted it according to the command of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. The people of Moses, peace be upon him, and when he, peace and blessings of God be upon him, commanded us to disobey the Jews, he commanded us to fast the day before Ashura, which is the ninth, and the day after it, which is the eleventh. He, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to us: Fast on the day of Ashura, and they differed from the Jews on it. Fast a day before it and a day after it And he did not say, Disobey Moses, for God has protected us from disobeying the prophets. Rather, God dropped some of their laws from us, just as he dropped some of what He legislated for us, and we believe in every abrogator and abrogated in every law. [ The day of Ashura is the tenth of Muharram ]This is why our scholars imagined that Ashura is the ninth of Muharram and nothing else. We narrated from the hadith of Abu Ahmad bin Adi al-Jurjani, who narrated it from the hadith of Ibn Hayyi on the authority of Dawud bin Ali on the authority of his father on the authority of his grandfather, that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: If I stay to meet him, I will fast a day before him and a day after. And the second hadith is what Narrated by Muslim from the hadith of Al-Hakam bin Al-Araj, he said: I came to Ibn Abbas while he was propped up in his robe in Zamzam. I mean, if he lived to the next year, he would support what we said It was also narrated by Muslim on the authority of Ibn Abbas who said when the Messenger of God, may God s prayers and peace be upon him, fasted the day of Ashura and commanded to fast it, they said, Oh, Messenger of God, it is a day that the Jews and Christians venerate. The next until the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, died He did not fast the ninth as being Ashura. If he fasted it and fasted on the day of Ashura by fulfilling the tenth of Muharram, it should not be said that the ninth is Ashura with the presence of this news. [ Wisdom on the day of fasting before Ashura and the day after it ]We have mentioned the wisdom of the ninth and tenth day in the first name and the other name in this chapter. Likewise, I also say about fasting the day after Ashura, so that the proportionality of what we have referred to is known. We also say that it is attached to the first name as Ashura on the tenth. |
