Know, may God grant you success and your understanding that fire may take a medicine for some diseases, so it is a protection, and it is a disease that does not protect itself except by ironing with fire. A medicine like ironing with fire in this world, so by their entry into the Fire on the Day of Resurrection, a great disease is greater than the fire, and it is the wrath of God who has taken the place of the disease that cauterizes those who are afraid of it with fire. Just as We have placed in the lower limits a protection from the punishment of the Hereafter, and for this reason they are expiations, i.e. concealing these limits from the punishment of the Hereafter.

[ The punishment of the infidels and the punishment of the people of major sins ]

Hence we said about the warriors, God and His Messenger, that what is meant by them is the infidels, for when God punished them in this world, He did not make their punishment an expiation like the hadd punishments for the believers.
