He is the One who knows the known, and between the knowledge and the known are oceans whose bottoms he cannot fathom. The secret of the connection between them despite the dissimilarity of facts is a difficult sea to navigate. Indeed, neither the phrase at all nor the sign can ride it, but the revelation reaches him from behind many subtle veils that he does not feel are within the eye of his insight due to their subtlety, and they are difficult to perceive. So rather Who created it, then see where the one who says, “I knew something about that thing, whether modern or ancient,” is in fact in the modern, and as for the ancient, it is further and further away, since there is no equivalent to it. From where does he arrive at knowledge of it or how it is obtained? This Sunni issue will be discussed in the chapter.
