All the functions of the limbs are united by leaving curiosity in each member for what it deserves, both apparent and hidden. The first of them is the limbs, and the highest of them is thought, so he does not think about what does not help him, for that leads him to obsession and wishes, and not competing with the presence of intention in performing acts of worship, for a person is never without his thoughts in one of two things: either about what he has of this world. As for what he does not have, then if he thinks about what he has, there is no cure for him according to the sect except abandoning it and asceticism in it. This was stated by Abu Hamid and others, and if he thinks about what he does not have, then according to the sect, he is mindless and clumsy, with no cure except persevering in dhikr and sitting with the people of God, whose outward appearances are dominated by observation. And modesty comes from God, and God speaks the truth and He guides the way.
