Do not turn around, but this is how you see it for your reality in your Lord, and it is different from that. So he came out of his words, as it appears to someone who has no knowledge of things by first opinion or from the first sight that the cylinder is a stone as it was and not gold except in the eye of the beholder. Then the man saw it after that as a stone as it was the first time.
[ The staff of Moses and the magicians of Pharaoh ]
God Almighty said about the staff of Moses, peace be upon him, and what is that in your right hand, O Moses? He said, “They are my sticks.” Then he said, “Throw them, O Moses.” So he threw them from his hand into the ground, and behold, they were a snake scurrying. When Moses, peace be upon him, feared them, according to the custom in souls that they fear snakes if they surprise them, God had associated with them the harm to the sons of Adam, and Moses did not know what God meant in this. That is, if he had known him, he would not have been afraid, and God Almighty had said to him, “Take it and do not be afraid. We will return it to its original behavior,” that is, it will return to being a stick as it was, or you will return to seeing it as a stick as it was. The verse is possible, because the pronoun that is in His Almighty’s saying, “We will return it to its original behavior,” if it was not a stick in the state of being in the eyes of Moses. He did not find a conscience for the one who returned it, just as if a person accuses you of something, which is that he was good to you and then he treated you badly, then you say to him, “Your behavior has changed with me, what are you?”
