The names of the messengers that are specific to slaves, and he, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “May God have mercy on a man who heard my statement, understood it, and performed it as he heard it
meaning, letter by letter. This only applies to one who has reached the revelation of the Qur’an or Sunnah with the wording that he brought, and this does not apply.” It is only for the transmission of revelation from the reciters and hadith scholars, not for the jurists or for those who transmitted the hadith according to the meaning, as Sufyan al-Thawri and others see it. There is no share in it, for the transmitter of the meaning only conveyed to us his understanding of that prophetic hadith, and whoever conveys his understanding to us is only a messenger of himself and will not be gathered on the Day of Resurrection among those who have reached it. The revelation as he heard it and conveyed the message, just as the reciter and the hadith narrator who transmits the word of the Messenger himself are placed in the ranks of the messengers, peace be upon them. If the Companions transmit the revelation according to its wording, they are the messengers of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and the followers are the messengers of the Companions, and so it is, generation after generation until the Day of Resurrection. If we wish, we can say in what is conveyed to us that it is The Messenger of God, and if you wish, we add it to those who reported from him, but we permitted the deletion of the intermediaries because the Messenger of God was informed by Gabriel, peace be upon him, and an angel of the angels, and we do not say in him the Messenger of Gabriel, but rather we say in him the Messenger of God as God said.
