The path I have not seen in his path is anything like it in diligence. The men said to me: Four men have been true to what they promised God, and they are men of the outward appearance, and men who are not distracted by trade or selling from the remembrance of God, and they are men of the inward truth who sit with God Almighty and have counsel, and men of norms, and they are men of punishment. God Almighty said, “And over the norms are men of authority.” Smell, distinction, and release are apart from the descriptions, so they have no description. Among them was Abu Yazid al-Bistami, and men who, when the truth calls them to it, come to it as men for the speed of answering, and do not ride. And proclaim the Hajj among the people. They come to you as men, and they are men of the beginning. The men of the apparent are the ones who have authority in the world of kingship and martyrdom, and they are the ones to whom Sheikh Muhammad was referring. Ibn Qaid Al-Awani, which is the place that the wise sheikh Abu Al-Saud bin Al-Shibl Al-Baghdadi left in good manners with God. Abu Al-Badr Al-Tamashaki Al-Baghdadi, may God have mercy on him, told me that when Muhammad bin Qaid Al-Awani, who was one of the individuals, met with this Abu Al-Saud, he said to him, O Abu Al-Saud, God divided the kingdom between you and me, so why not? You behave in it as I do. Abu Al-Saud said to him, “O son of a leader, I gave you my share.”
