He lived in Al-Muqali, outside Mosul, in an orchard of his own. Al-Khidr had dressed him in the rag in the presence of the dairy rod, and the sheikh had put it on me in the place where Al-Khidr had dressed him in his garden, and in the same manner as he had worn it with him. I had worn Al-Khidr’s rag in a way further than this, from the hand of our friend Taqi al-Din Abd al-Rahman. Ibn Ali Ibn Maimun Ibn Abi Al-Tawzari wore it from the hand of Sadr Al-Din, the sheikh of the sheikhs in the Egyptian lands, and he is Ibn Hamawayh, and his grandfather had worn it from the hand of Al-Khidr. From that time, I said about wearing the rag, and people wore it when I saw Al-Khidr considered it, and before that I did not say about the rag that is known now, because the rag is For us, it is an expression of companionship, etiquette, and character, and for this reason her dress is not found to be connected to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, but there is companionship and etiquette, which is expressed in the dress of piety. It is the custom of those with good conditions that if they see one of their companions who has a deficiency in some matter and they want to perfect his condition, this will be combined with it. The sheikh, when he unites with him, takes the garment that he is wearing in that state, takes it off, and empties it on the man who wants to complete his condition, so that condition applies to him, and that completes that for him. That is what he is.
