In terms of the name that connected them, they saw it, so they had an eye of certainty, so that name is not devoid of either asking for an adjective of a verb, such as the Creator and Creator, or an adjective of an attribute, such as the thankful and the considerate, or an attribute of exaltation, such as the rich, so it is according to what the truth of that name gives it, and then its drink, taste, and watering, and its existence do not exceed it, so it is predominant with us. In his case, what you give him is the truth of that divine name, so you add it to it and by it you call him, so you say: Abd al-Shakur, Abd al-Bari, Abd al-Ghani, Abd al-Jalil, and Abd al-Razzaq, and if their arrival at a name other than the name that brought them, then he brings strange knowledge that does not give him his condition according to what the truth of that name gives him, so he speaks with strange knowledge in that. There may be something in that knowledge that is denied to him by someone who has no knowledge in the way of the people, and people see that his knowledge is above his condition, and with us it is higher than the one who has reached the sight of the name that connected him, for this does not bring strange knowledge that does not suit his condition, so people see that his knowledge is below his condition and below it, says Abu Yazid Al-Bistami, may God be pleased with him, knows above what he says and knows below what he says.
