He was protected from the harm of boys and others. He was very silent and always considerate. He stayed in the mosque and prayed at certain times. I would often ask him when I saw him praying. I would say to him, “I see you praying.” He would say to me, “No, by God. I only see him making me stay and sit me down. I don’t know what he wants with me.” I would say to him, “Do you intend to do what I am supposed to do in this prayer of yours?” God be upon you, so he says to me, “What is the intention?” I say to him, “The intention of these actions is to bring me closer to Him.” He laughs and says, “I tell him, I see him making me stand up and making me sit down. So how can I intend to get closer to the one who is with me while I am witnessing him and I do not escape from me? This is the talk of crazy people. You have no brains.” [ Colors from the madmen of the truth ] Then you should know that these fools are like Bahlul and Saadoun among the forerunners, and Abu Wahb the virtuous, and those like them: some of them are happy and some of them are sad. And they are in this according to the first narration that came to their minds. If it was narrated by Qahr, then they were arrested like Yaqoub [Page 250 of the Cairo edition]. Al-Kurani was at the White Bridge, I saw him, and he was at this foot. Likewise, Masoud Al-Habashi, I saw him in Damascus, mixed between the narrated and extended, mostly faded, and if he was narrated by the kindness of their spread, I saw.
