An interpreter arrived from such-and-such Sultan to such-and-such Sultan saying such-and-such. They did not call the sender nor the addressee the name “king” out of piety and good manners with God, and they gave him the name “sultan,” for “king” is one of the names of God. So they avoided this word out of politeness, sanctity, and piety, and they said “sultan,” since this word did not occur in names. God, and they called the Messenger who came from Him the name of the Interpreter, and they did not call him the Messenger because it was given to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. So they made it one of the characteristics of prophecy and the divine message, as a manner of etiquette with the Messengers of God, peace be upon them, even though this term was permitted to them and they did not prohibit it, but it was not required. On them, the necessity of politeness was more important with those whom God knows us to be greater than us in status with Him, and this is known only to pious and literate people [ The narrow path in Crowding of universes ] Then these people have another level of piety, which is that they, may God be pleased with them, avoid every matter in which there is competition between universes, and they seek a path in which those who are not of their gender or status do not share with them, so they do not compete with anyone in anything. That is what they realize in their souls and are characterized by, and they love from God to pray for in this world and the hereafter, and it is what they are of.
