So tell him, “What moved you except good tone and understanding only occurred to you under the ruling of subordination. Nature is a ruling on your animality. There is no difference between you and the camel in the effect of the tone on you.” Such speech will be difficult for him and heavy. He will say to you, “You did not know me, and you did not know what moved me,” so remain silent about it for a moment. For the one who makes this claim is negligence. Controlling him, then take him with him in the speech that gives that meaning, so tell him what a beautiful word God Almighty says, and recite to him a verse from the Book of God that contains that meaning that he moved from the singer’s voice and verified it with him until he realized it, so he takes it with you in it and speaks, and does not take it for that state, movement, or action. Fay, but he approves of it and says: This verse contains a great meaning of knowledge of God, so what is the most disgraceful in his claim? So tell him, my brother, this very meaning is the one you mentioned to me that moved you in listening yesterday to what he said in his poetry with his good tone. So for what meaning did the situation affect you yesterday and this meaning? It is present in what I have formulated for you and I have related it with the words of the Almighty Truth, which is the highest and most truthful. I saw you shaking with approval and gaining understanding, and yesterday [Page 211 of the Cairo edition] Satan was tossing you around due to his possession.
