[ Kingship: and the existential bond between truth and creation ] Know, may God help you, that God says, “Call upon Me, and I will respond to you.” If you know this, you know that God is the Lord of everything and its Sovereign. Everything other than God Almighty is subject to this Lord and belongs to this True King, Glory be to Him. There is no meaning to the fact that the world belongs to God Almighty except that He disposes of it as He wills without restriction, and that it is the subject of the influence of the King, His Master, the Almighty, so the situations are diverse. What He knows is that He disposes of His right in it according to the ruling of what He wants. Then, when we saw God Almighty saying, Your Lord has decreed upon Himself mercy, so He joined Himself with His servant in the obligation upon Him. And if it was He who obligated upon Himself what He obligated, then His words are true and His promise is true, just as a person obligates himself by making a vow to Himself, from the beginning, unless the truth obligated him to do so, so God obligated him to fulfill the vow that he had made obligatory upon himself, so he commanded him to fulfill his vow. Then we saw Him, the Almighty, not respond until after the servant called upon Him, as He prescribed, just as the servant is not an answer to the truth until the truth calls him to what it calls him to. He said [Page 183]. From the Cairo edition] God Almighty, so let them respond to me, so it became for the servant and the scholar, who is king.
