It is fear, and it is a psychological, non-sensual torment, and they may be distracted from it at times. Their bliss is relief from the sensory torment, because God places in their hearts that He is the Possessor of vast mercy. God Almighty says, “This day we will forget you just as you have forgotten,” and from this fact they say, “We have forgotten” since they did not feel the pain, and so is His saying, “They forgot God,” so He forgot them, and so is this day. You will be forgotten, that is, you will be left in Hell, since forgetfulness is abandonment, and with a whisper, delay [ The people of Hell ] So the people of Hell Their share of bliss is that torment does not occur, and their share of torment is its expectation, for there is no security for them in the way of news from God, and they are shielded from fear of expectation. At times, they are withheld from it for ten thousand years, at times two thousand years, and at times six thousand years, and they do not go beyond this mentioned amount whenever it is bound to happen. This amount of time is for them, and if God wants to bless them with His name, the Most Gracious, they look at the state they are in at the time and their emergence from the torment they were in, and they enjoy that amount of looking at a time, and this look lasts for them a thousand years, and a time nine thousand years, and a time five thousand years, and it increases and decreases, and it does not This condition of theirs will always remain in Hell, since they are its inhabitants.
