« The second chapter is about knowing the movements that characterize words, which are the small letters » ( In the Name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful ) The vowels of the letters are six, and among them *** God has revealed the words like them . They are nominative, then accusative, and lowered. *** Movements for the Arabicized letters They are opening, then adding, and kasra *** Movements for the consonant letters And the origins of speech are deletion, so death *** or silence is caused by movements. This is the state of worlds, so see * ** To a strange life in dead places [ Letters are to words like pillars to bodies ] Know, may God support us and you with a spirit from Him. We were required to talk about the vowels in the chapter on the letters. I did not call them the small letters. Then we saw that there was no benefit in mixing the world of the vowels with the world of letters except after the letters were organized and joined together, so that a word would then be part of the word, and its regularity refers to the words of God Almighty regarding our creation, so when I straighten it and blow. In it is my spirit, which is the appearance of the movements on these letters after they have been settled, so another creation is called a word, just as one of us is called a human being. This is how the world of words was created [Page 85 of the Cairo edition] and the words came from the world of letters. Letters to words are substances like water.
