It is obligatory because we know that if the people of a city agreed to abandon a Sunnah, they must be fought, and if one abandoned it, he would not be killed. The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, would not raid a city if he came to it at night until morning, and if he heard the call to prayer he held back, otherwise he would go on the attack, and he would recite if he did not hear the call to prayer, “Indeed.” When we settle in a people’s square, the morning of those who have been warned is broken. [ There is no apparent ruling in the Sharia except that it has a corresponding hidden meaning. ] There is no ruling among the rulings of the obligations of the Sharia, its Sunnahs, and its recommendations that do not have a ruling in the interior, or more, to the extent of what is open to the servant regarding that, whether it is an obligation, a Sunnah, or a recommendation. It is necessary and that is limited to all the rest of the legitimate acts of worship. Thus, the ruling of the exterior is distinguished from the interior, for the exterior applies in The inner is not a legitimate matter that applies to the apparent, rather it is limited to it, for the hidden is all meanings and the apparent is tangible actions, so it moves from the tangible to the meaning and does not move from the meaning to the sense . ( Chapter on specificity in washing the face ) There is no dispute that washing the face is obligatory and its ruling inwardly is absolute supervision and modesty from God, and that is not to exceed the limits of God Almighty
