Neither fire nor any of the causes of the afterlife, nor did they know that there would be an afterlife and a tangible resurrection after death in natural bodies, and they lived in eating, drinking, clothing, marriage, and joy, and they lived in torment and pain, for the existence of that is possible and its nonexistence is possible, and they have no evidence for favoring one of the two possibilities, but rather monasticism that they invented, so this was the basis of their laws. And their interests are to maintain righteousness in this abode. Then they set themselves apart in their souls with the divine knowledge of the Oneness of God and what is due to His Majesty, such as glorification and sanctification, and the attributes of exaltation and the absence of ideals and similitudes, and alert those who know and those who know that who do not know, and incite the people to the correct view and teach them that minds, in terms of their ideas, have a limit to which they stop. Do not go beyond it, and God has a divine overflow in the hearts of some of His servants, teaching them knowledge from Himself, and that is not far-fetched for them. And God has deposited in the upper world matters that they inferred by the presence of their effects in the elemental world, which is the Almighty’s saying, “And He revealed in every heaven its command,” so they searched for the truths of their souls when they saw that If the physical form dies, nothing of its organs is missing. Then they know that the perceiver and mover of this body is just another matter in addition to it. So they searched for that additional matter and came to know their souls, then they saw that He knew after what they had been ignorant of.
