He is the hypocrite, for the infidel does not have a book, so the hypocrite was robbed of faith, and Islam was not taken from him. It was said about the hypocrite that he did not believe in God Almighty, so the obstructive one, the polytheist, and the arrogant one before God are included in it, and he did not expose himself to Islam, for the hypocrite obeys outwardly in order to protect his money, his family, and his blood, and inwardly he is one of these three. They said that this verse covers all three, for his saying “He does not believe in God Almighty” means “he does not believe in God,” and those who do not believe in God are two groups: a group that does not believe in the existence of God, and they are the defective, and a group that does not believe in the monotheism of God, and they are the polytheists, and his great saying in this verse includes those who are arrogant in God, for if he believes in the greatness of God, God deserves that whoever is called God is not arrogant towards him, and these three are with this hypocrite who is distinguished from them in terms of describing them as the people of Hell who are its inhabitants. As for the one who was given his book behind his back, they are those who were given the book, but they threw it away behind their backs and exchanged it for a small price. Then, on the Day of Resurrection, it will be said to him, “Take it from Behind your back, that is, the place where you rejected him in your worldly life is their book that was revealed to them, not the book [Page 315 of the Cairo edition] of deeds. When he rejected him behind his back, he thought that there would be no doubt about any certainty. The poet said
So I said to them, “They thought of two thousand mudjajs. ” p>
