[ The drive to the ten pavilions of reckoning ] Then the people are led to the pavilions of reckoning, which are ten pavilions. They stand in each pavilion for a thousand years, so Ibn Adam goes to the first pavilion of it about incest, and if he has not committed any of it, he goes to the second pavilion and asks about desires. If he has escaped from it, he goes to the third pavilion and asks about disobedience to his parents. If he is not disobedient, he goes to the fourth pavilion and asks about the rights of those whom God has delegated to him. Their affairs, about teaching them the Qur’an, and about their religion and their discipline. If he has done so, he may go to the fifth pavilion and be asked about what his right hand possesses. If he has been good to them, he may go to the sixth pavilion and ask about the rights of his relatives. If he has fulfilled their rights, he may go to the seventh pavilion and ask about family ties. If it is a connection to his relatives, then this is permissible. He goes to the eighth pavilion and is asked about envy. If he was not envious, he may go to the ninth pavilion and be asked about deception. If he did not deceive anyone, he may go to the tenth pavilion and be asked about deception. If he had not deceived anyone, he will be saved and descend in the shadow of the throne of God Almighty, his eyes happy, his heart laughing, and his mouth laughing. He fell into one of these qualities and remained in each of them for a thousand years: hungry, thirsty, sad, distressed, and anxious.
