There is no torment for souls more severe than ignorance, for it is all foolishness, and that is why it is called the Day of Deprivation. He says on the Day of Revealing: Whoever feels regret about a thing, when I reveal it, it is as if he is saying, “I wish I had regretted this matter in this world, so that I would be aware of my situation.” So he deceives himself, and the one who turns away will realize on that day all the obedient and the disobedient, so the obedient one says, “Oh!” I wish I had exerted my effort and fulfilled what was right of my ability and considered the words of my Lord and acted according to them even though He was happy. And the one who disagrees says, “I wish I had not disobeyed my Lord in what He commanded me and forbade me. That will be the Day of Defeat, and this will come in the chapter on the Day of Resurrection, God willing.
