Its condition in the time of spring is different from its condition in the time of summer, and its condition in the time of summer is different from its condition in the time of autumn, and its condition in the time of autumn is different from its condition in the time of winter, and its condition in the time of winter is different from its condition in the time of spring. Some scholars say that what times do to natural bodies is that they are exposed to the air of the time of spring. It does to your bodies what it does to your trees, and protect yourself from the air of the autumn season, for it does to your bodies just as it does to your trees. God Almighty has stated that we are among the plants of the earth, and He said, “By God, He has caused you to grow from the earth as a plant He intended, so you grow as a plant, because the source of your growth is only germination, as He said in the ratio of Genesis.” To the soul of the one commanded, and God Almighty said: “Our word for a thing when We intend it is only to say to it ‘Be’, and it is.” Thus He attributed the formation to it. Likewise, the appearance of a plant was attributed to the plant, so understand. For this reason we said, “The conditions differed only due to the differences in times” [ Times differed only because of the differences in movements ] As for our saying that times differed only because of the differences in movements, I mean by movements the astronomical movements, for by the difference in astronomical movements the time of night and day came into being and the years, months and seasons were determined, and these Expressed in tenses
