The image was correct for Adam because he created with his hands, so the truths of the entire world were combined in him, and the world seeks the divine names, as the divine names were combined in him. This is why Adam, peace be upon him, was singled out for knowledge of all the names that have an orientation to the world, and that knowledge was not given by God to the angels, and they are the highest, most honorable world. God Almighty said, “And He taught Adam.” He said all the names, and he did not say some of them. He said their presentation, but he did not say their width, so that indicates that he listed the names, not the names. And the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “O God, I ask you by every name that you have named yourself with, or that you have taught to one of your creation, or that you have kept secret in the knowledge of your unseen. If this supplication was recited before the revelation of Surat Al-Baqarah to him, then there is no contradiction between the report and the verse for those who say that the names here are the divine names, for he, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, had no knowledge of what God assigned to Adam over the angels, as he, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said. I do not know what will be done with me or with you, if I follow except what is revealed to me, even if he called for it after the revelation of Surat Al-Baqarah, then what he means by saying are all the divine names that seek effects in the world and the names of purification and sanctification that are worshiped by them.
