Or Sufyan Al-Thawri. As for your saying, if you say he heard it from a philosopher or read it in their books, then you may fall into lying and ignorance. As for lying, your saying he heard it or read it while you did not see it from him. As for ignorance, it is the fact that you do not distinguish between the truth in that matter and falsehood. As for your saying that the philosopher has no religion, it does not. The fact that he has no religion indicates that everything he has is false, and this is understood with the beginning of reason by every rational person. By your objection to the Sufi in such a matter, you have departed from knowledge, truthfulness, and religion, and have entered into the path of people of ignorance, lies, slander, lack of reason and religion, corruption of outlook, and deviation. Would you have thought if a vision came to you with it? If you saw it, were you anything but passing through it? [Page 33 of the Cairo edition] and inquiring about its meanings. Likewise, take what this Sufi brought to you, and guide yourself a little, and study what your place brought to you until its meaning becomes clear to you.
