It is the chapter on the defective waw, so we expressed it by the spiritual royal messenger, Gabriel, or another of the angels. When the human messenger deposited the secrets of monotheism and the laws that he had deposited, he was given the extension and supply with which he supplies the world of composition, and the secret of the extension was hidden from him, and for that reason he said, “I do not know what will be done to me or to you.” And he said, “I am only a human being like you. And since he existed in the underworld, the world of body and structure, we gave him the broken yā’ and the defective letter before it, which is one of the lowercase letters. Since they were two causes for the existence of the divine secrets of monotheism and law, they were endowed with the secret of extension, so they were extended. As for the difference between them and the alif, the waw and yā’ may be taken away from This maqām is in motion with all the movements, such as his saying, “And He found you” and “Yāyūn,” and “Walū al-Aḥarā” (yānaūn) sings “Indeed, you are dead.” They may be at rest with the stillness of the living, as in His saying, “And He is not dead,” and Yāyānū, and their similarity. The alif never moves, and nothing before it ever exists except open. Therefore, there is no relationship between the alif and the waw and yā’. No matter how much you move the wāw and yā’, that is its maqām. Of its attributes, whatever is attached to the alif in the causality, that is not of itself.
