Opposing him in the first place, as it has been proven with us through transmission that he is the Messenger of God to us and that he brought this Qur’an that is in our hands today and declared that it is the word of God, and all of this has been proven with us through transmission, as knowledge of it has been proven that it is the true news and the final say. The evidence is auditory and rational, and if we judge a matter by a certain ruling, there is no doubt that it is based on that ruling. If the matter is as we said, then the prepared person takes his belief from the Mighty Qur’an, which is in the status of rational evidence in its significance, as it is the truth to which falsehood cannot come from before it or from behind it, a revelation from the All-Wise, the Praiseworthy. With this principle proven, the prepared person does not need the evidence of reason, since he has obtained conclusive evidence on which the sword is hanging. The Jews said to Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, “Inscribe your Lord to us.” Then God Almighty revealed to him Surat Al-Ikhlas, and he did not provide for them a single piece of evidence from consideration. So he said, “Say, ‘He is God’.” He confirmed the existence of one, so he denied the number. He affirmed the oneness of God, Glory be to Him, the Eternal One, so he denied the body. He did not give birth, nor was He begotten, so he denied. The father and the child, and there was no one equal to him, so he denied the companion, just as he denied the partner, saying, “If there were in them any gods other than God, they would have been corrupted,” so the one with the rational evidence asks for proof.
