If I had had enough of its reward, we would have said *** By obligating fasting and performing prayers

then the servant is the servant of God unless he *** has in himself the target of an archer.

And when he ordered it to be made up, he emphasized its likeness to Ramadan, not to a specific vow. If the day of a vow passes, it is not made up for, even if the one who made it held the rest of his day if he did not spend the night, and when he commanded us to fast it and he urged us to do so, he had commanded us to differ from the People of the Book, the Jews and Christians, and that is in what they legislated for themselves, which God did not permit and they changed it. And they changed, and what they legislated for themselves was not distinguished with us from what their Prophet legislated for them, so we were commanded to differ from them except for what the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, decided for us, which was legislated for them, so we taught it with certainty, such as stoning a married man and establishing prayer for those who remembered after forgetting, so when it was established, we learned about it .

For God Almighty says about the prophets: “Those are those whom God has guided, so He followed their guidance.” And He said, “He has legislated for you the religion that which He enjoined upon Noah” the verse, and He said, peace and blessings be upon him, “We are more worthy of Moses than you.”

So he meant “we” on behalf of himself and his nation, so we were more worthy of Moses than you. The Jews because they did not believe in everything that Moses brought, and if they had believed in everything that Moses brought, they would have believed in Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, and in his book, and we were commanded to believe in it and in what was revealed to him. Then the Truth told us about that and his report was true, so it is impossible in the nation of Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, for a believer among them to believe in some of them. Among what Moses brought was fasting on the day of Ashura, so we believed in it and fasted on the command of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, as an obligation, unlike for us, just as Moses fasted it as an obligation. Then God imposed Ramadan on us and gave us the choice to fast on Ashura, so we fast it from the path of priority, so we combine the reward of the obligatory day and the voluntary one to an increased degree. On the believers from the people of Moses, peace be upon him. When he, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, commanded us to differ from the Jews, he commanded us to fast the day before Ashura, which is the ninth, and the day after it, which is the eleventh.

So he, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said to us: Fast on the day of Ashura, and they differed from the Jews on it, so fast a day before it. And after that, one day
