Then he said about God. The servant, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. He says, “God praised my servant. ”
He means by the attribute of mercy due to the derivation of these two names from it. He did not say about what is related to the generality of His mercy, and because the common man does not know of God’s mercy upon him unless he gives him what It suits him for his purpose, even if it harms him, or what suits his nature, even if there is misery in him and the knower is not like that, then divine mercy may come to the servant in an objectionable form, such as drinking foul-tasting and smelling medicine for the sick person, and recovery in it is incomplete. So if the knower says, “The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,” he brings within himself the meaning of this saying in terms of what it is. The truth is described in it and in terms of what the deceased asks for, because he knew all of that, and also present in his heart is the generality of His one mercy divided
