The fixed stars for sight. Then He created the pillars: earth, water, air, and fire. Then He fashioned the heavens into seven layers and divided them, that is, He separated each heaven separately after it had been a piece of paper when it had been smoke. He divided the earth into seven earths, a first heaven for a first earth and a second for a second into seven. Every sky is a planet, and He created the moon, and He also created the sun, so night and day occurred by creating the sun in a day, and the day existed, so He made half of this day for the people of the Earth a day, which is from the rising of the sun to its setting, and He made the other half of it a night, which is from the setting of the sun until its rising, and the day represents the sum, and for this reason He created The heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days. The days existed due to the movement of the zodiacal sphere, and they are the days known to us only. So God did not say, “He created the throne and the throne.” He only said, “He created the heavens and the earth in six days.” If the zodiacal sphere rotates one revolution, that is the day on which God created the heavens and the earth. Then God created night and day when the sun was present, not days. As for the increase and decrease that occurs in it, I mean in the night and day, not in the hours, it is twenty-four hours, and that is due to the setting of the sun in the region of the zodiac.
