As for postpartum blood, it is the same as menstrual blood. If it exceeds the amount of time of menstruation or deviates from that characteristic of menstrual blood, it falls outside the ruling on menstruation. The time period for the soul’s intention to lie extends over the duration of what it intended until it is purified by repentance from that, so there is no limit to most or least of it. Likewise, the time of purification does not have a single limit, for there is no limit to truthfulness except that it is governed by legal conditions.

Scientists differed on this issue. Some say there is no limit for its minimum, and I say so. Some say its limit is twenty-five days, some say its limit is eleven days, some say twenty days. As for its maximum time, some say sixty days, some say seventeen days, and some say forty. And whoever says that for the male there are thirty days and for the female forty days, and it is better for him to refer in this to the conditions of women, for as long as there is a proven Sunnah for it, he can refer to it.

The bearer is the quality of the soul if it is filled with the thing that it finds, and then it shows it in a different way, which is lying, and that may be from a habit that he has become accustomed to, as some of them said .

A person does not lie except out of his humiliation*** or a bad habit or lack of manners .

As for his saying about his humiliation, “Kings do not lie,” and his saying about his lack of manners, as stated in the report that if a person tells a lie, the king will distance himself from him. Thirty miles from the stench of what he brought, so the liar about what he is not permitted to lie about has misbehaved with the angel, for the angels are harmed by what the sons of Adam are harmed by, and man is harmed by the stench.
