The lover is described as being independent of a lot of himself for the sake of his Lord.

And a little of his beloved being a lot of things. This is because he differentiates between being a lover because of what he sees in himself of brokenness, humiliation, astonishment, and confusion, which is the effect of love on lovers, and he sees the chivalry of the beloved, his lostness, his leadership, and his admiration for him. He sees that if he gives him everything he owns, it is little for what he gave of himself, and that the right of his beloved is greater to him than the right of himself. Rather, he does not see himself as a right, even though in reality he is only seeking what is right for himself. This is how love gives him.
