The answer: Since the prophets had a quality that required objection and submission, it is permissible for the believer to submit, and whoever submits does not ask for the reason in everything that the Prophet brought or in any of his questions. If the Prophet brings the reason, he accepts it just as he accepts the effect, even if He did not bring it with a greeting, so he said, “Peace be upon you, O Prophet.” We have explained its meaning in the chapter on prayer in this book, in the chapters of the Tashahhud. And if the Prophet says this, then the person greeted by him is the soul.
