Fasting the months of Sha`ban was more important than fasting the days of other months because of the separation it entails .

Muslim narrated on the authority of Ibn Umar that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to a man, “Have you fasted anything during the month of Ramadan?” He said, “No,” and he said.
