The scholars disagreed if the crescent clouded, and most said that the count is complete at thirty. If the crescent clouded at the beginning of the month, then the month before it was counted as thirty, and the beginning of Ramadan was the thirty-first, and if the crescent clouded at the end of the month, I mean the month of Ramadan, then people fasted for thirty days. And who said If the fainting crescent was at the beginning of the month, then he fasts on the second day, which is the day of doubt. Whoever says that, refers to the calculation by the movement of the moon and the sun, and this is the doctrine of Ibn al-Shakhir, and I say so.
