We have mentioned that when silver was judged while it was seeking the perfection that gold attained, it had one nature, which is coldness, one of the four natures, so it took one nature from gold, which took it out of the place of moderation, so for this reason it was taken from the forty. Which is the quorum for gold, one dinar, which is a quarter of a tenth, because if you multiply four by ten, the result is forty, so the fourteen are forty, and one is a quarter of the four, so it is a quarter of a tenth, and it is the one that the silver took, and with it silver in its quest became a degree of perfection, so this amount was reduced from the gold, so its zakat was a dinar.
