One day I was sitting with our sheikh, Abu Abbas al-Arabi, in Seville, and we wanted, or someone wanted, a kind gift, and someone from the group said, “Whoever wants the relatives to give alms is more worthy of kindness.” The sheikh immediately said, connecting with the words of the one who said to God, “May I return it to the liver.” By God, I did not hear it in that situation except From God until I imagined that it was revealed in the Qur’an, and I verified it and my heart drank it, and so did everyone present. It is not appropriate for the blessings of God to be eaten except by the people of God, and for them they were created. And others eat them by virtue of subordination, so they are meant by the blessings, and those other than them, as we said, only eat them according to the totality and in terms of detail, so what is there of it?
