God Almighty said regarding Tha`labah ibn Hatib: And among them were those who covenanted with God, “If He gave us of His bounty, we would surely give charity and be among the righteous.” And what God Almighty told us about him was that he said, “God willing.” If he had said, “God willing,” he would have done it. Then God Almighty said regarding him, “And when He gave them of His bounty, he was miserly.” And they turned to Him And they turned away. This is because when God imposed zakat, the believer of the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, came asking him to pay zakat on his sheep. He said, “This is the tribute of the jizyah.” He declined, so God informed him of what he said. So He followed them with hypocrisy in their hearts until the day they meet him, because they broke their promise to God. They were not lying < / p >
