Sharia scholars agreed that wiping it is one of the obligations of ablution, and they differed in the required amount of it. Some say that it is obligatory to wipe it all, and those who say that it is obligatory to wipe some of it. They differed in the limit for some, so those who say that a third is obligatory, and those who say that two-thirds are obligatory, and who say a quarter, and who say that there is no limit for some, and some of these spoke. Regarding the limit of the amount with which one can wipe from the hand, there is someone who says that wiping it with less than three fingers is not permissible, and there is someone who says that there is no limit for some, neither in what is wiped nor in what is wiped with. The basis of this disagreement is the presence of the “ba” in the Almighty’s saying, “By your heads.”
