So this group worked to gain something of what was reported in the divine news from the side of the truth, and they began to refine their hearts with remembrances and recitation of the Qur’an, clearing the place of looking at what is possible, being present, and observing, while purifying the apparent by staying within the legitimate limits of lowering one’s gaze from the matters that it is forbidden to look at. To her from the private parts and other things, and sending him to the things that give him consideration and insight, as well as his hearing, his tongue, his hand, his feet, his stomach, his private parts, his heart, and what then is in his outward appearance except these seven, and the heart is the eighth of them, and he removes contemplation from himself altogether, for it separates his concerns and secludes himself in observing his heart at the door of his Lord.
