So he knew by his descent the amounts and weights of things, and he knew his quantity of them, just as the Lord Almighty descended in the remaining third of the night, so the night is the place of the temporal revelation of the truth and its description, which is the Qur’an. And the remaining third of the night in the descent of the Lord was unseen by Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, and this human type was unseen, for the unseen is concealed. The night is a covering, and this remainder of the night is called the third because this human origin has the right to always remain in the abode of eternity. The first two-thirds are gone by the presence of the remaining third or the other of the night in which the truth descended and required it to remain as well. It is a night that is never followed by morning, so it does not go away, but moves from one state to another.
