Considering one of the righteous people, I was informed that Omar bin Abdul Aziz held a funeral. When they left, Omar and his companions were late for the funeral, and some of his companions said to him, “O Commander of the Faithful, there is a funeral for which you are late, and he left it.” He said, “Yes, the grave called me from behind me, O Omar bin Abdul Aziz.” Don’t ask me what I did with my loved ones. I said, “Yes.” He said, “I burned the shrouds, tore the bodies, and sucked the blood and ate the flesh.” He said, “Don’t ask me what I did with the limbs.” I said, “Yes.” He said, “I removed the palms from the arms, and the arms from the upper arms, and the upper arms from the shoulders, and the hips and thighs, and the thighs from the knees, and the knees from the legs, and the legs from the feet.” Then he cried. Omar then said: Indeed, the lifespan of this world is short, its dear is lowly, its rich is poor, its young is old, and its life is dying, so do not be deceived
