What Muawiyah introduced was out of consideration for what is rare, which is alerting the heedless, for it is not far-fetched for him to neglect prayer due to what he saw as playing by watching it. Souls in the time of the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, were available to see him, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and were relieved to see him while he was the imam, so he did not distract them from watching him.
